God Almighty, is El Shaddai in Hebrew, meaning invincible power of God. He is all, the most, complete might. Omnipotent meaning all powerful. God the creator is the source of all power. Any power you see comes from Him. Nothing is more powerful than Him. Power never diminishes in Him. He is all power all the time. All the power in all the universe is within Him.  When God does something like create a flower or a star in the sky, He doesn’t need more energy to do one or the other. In Him, He can do anything with the same amount of effort as anything else. He can create things out of nothing.

As AW Tozer says, in his book Knowledge of the Holy, “all the power required to do all that He wills to do lies in undiminished fulness in His own infinite being.” So if He is an infinite being than His power if infinite. He has the same amount of power in the past, the same amount of power today, and He’ll have the same amount of power in the future. It is hard to comprehend because usually when we think of energy, it has to be recharged. He doesn’t recharge and He doesn’t have to draw on anything else to recharge.

Rev 4:8, In John's vision the heavenly creatures say, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.” He has the same amount of power always. Who was in the past, who is today and who will be in the future. It is eternal power, it doesn’t fade, and it is unlimited.

Heb 1:3 says, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His Powerful word.” Scriptures say that Jesus is The Word and all things were made through Him. If all things were made through Him too then there is power through Jesus Christ. You cannot create the world without power. He would talk to a storm, command it to be still, and it was immediately.

In Matt 26:53 Jesus said, “I can call on my Father and He will at once put at my disposal more than 12 legions of angels.” Jesus had all this power with Him. He could do whatever He wanted to do on the earth but He submitted to the Father. Even though He had all this power, He didn’t use it. Because He didn’t come with all His power to destroy man because of their sins, He came with all His power to save man because of their sins.

God has so much intense power that He could wipe it all away with the blink of an eye as easily as He created it. Yet, God is so tender. He said a bruised reed He will not break and a smoldering wick He won’t blow out. He is incredibly tender but He is also there with all the power you need to do anything that you need to do.

The bible says we will see the Son of God coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. That will be awesome to see when He comes and returns. But the greatest power of all is seen in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The power that raised Christ from the dead is that He never died again. He was raised to life and because of His resurrection, we all live too.

Rom 8:11 says, “if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dear will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.” God has not given you a spirit of fear but of power, of love, and of a sound mind so if the Holy Spirit is living inside of you, this power that raised Christ from the dead lives inside of you. It is the very presence of God.

How powerful is the God you believe in? His power has not diminished over time and it never will. If you want to feel secure and safe, then put your life in the hands of this big almighty personal God. I believe in a God who can do anything for me and give me all the strength I need to do to live out this life. He possesses absolute limitless power. His power is divine. His power is only used for His will and His will is good.

Living a Radical Life for Jesus means believing that God is Almighty

It is really the word mighty with an “All” in front of it. He is all, the most, complete might. Powerful. Omnipotent meaning all powerful. God the creator is the source of all power. He is all power. Any power you see comes from Him. Nothing is more powerful than Him. Power never diminishes in Him. If power flows out of Him, He does not have to regenerate power. He is all power all the time. The sun for example will eventually burn out but He will never burn out. All the power in all the universe is within Him. When He calls upon it, that power obeys Him. He doesn’t have to replenish His power or energy. There is nothing outside of Himself to renew His strength. He doesn’t have to draw on anything else to have more power or strength. He is in and of Himself all power.

He is not like a human god. Roman and Greek gods are fashioned by man with human failings and weaknesses. When God does something like create a flower or a star in the sky, He doesn’t need more energy to do one or the other. In Him, because of all His power, He can do anything with the same amount of effort as anything else. When He created the world, He could just blink His eyes and at His command things happen. And He can create things out of nothing. That is an all powerful God.

He is all source of power that you can ever imagine.

And it is so important that you keep that in mind. He doesn’t have more power in the old testament bible days than He does today. All of His power is there all of the time. You must contemplate how powerful, how almighty this God is.

I.        How God is revealed through the Word

Usually when the word Almighty is used it is God Almighty which is a name of God. First introduced in the bible in Gen 17:1 which says the, “Lord appeared to Abram and said, ‘I am God Almighty, walk before me and be blameless.’” And when Abram heard God say this to him in all His might power, he fell face down in the presence of God.

The NIV commentary says that God Almighty, is El Shaddai in Hebrew, meaning invincible power of God. It is a special name by which God revealed Himself to the Jewish patriarchs, Abraham, Issac and Jacob. El-Shaddai occurs 31 times in the book of Job and 17 times in the rest of the bible.

In As 6:1-3, Isaiah says, “I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Seraphs called to one another saying, ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty, the whole earth is full of His glory.’” Now when Isaiah was confronted with this holy almighty God, he did the same as Abram. He said, “Woe to me, I am unclean.” He was filled with emotion. They both were both in front of this holy and mighty God and they had awe, reverence, dread, and fear because their sin was being revealed and the power of who He is and all He is stood before them. Imagine if you are up in heaven standing before this almighty powerful God, how do you think you would react?

Now in Rev 4:8, John had a vision, and again the heavenly creatures were saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.” He has the same amount of power always. Who was in the past, who is today and who will be in the future. It is eternal power, it doesn’t fade, and it is unlimited.

Some of the other numerous scriptures on the power of God are: He is majestic in power; His power is vast; He is exalted in His power; He has the saving power of His right hand; He displays His power, there is the power of His awesome works; Great is our Lord and mighty in power; praise Him for His acts of power; Your name is mighty in power; and God made the earth by His power.

II.      How God is revealed through Creation

What really makes me think in creation of Almighty God is mountains. In Washington State, the sky is clear enough only 30 days of the year to see Mt. Ranier. One day as I was driving through a forest of pine trees there was a clearing and I saw the mountain and it took my breath away. I had to pull over to the side of the road to gaze upon this big, huge beautiful mountain. I believe God made mountains to show us and give us a view of how almighty He is. It is a solid unmoveable big rock foundation. And that is God but it’s also powerful because mountains have underneath them volcanic power. For some mountains, when that volcano erupts, it has devastating, huge, fire, powerful blast. That for me is revealing God’s power in creation.

III.    How God is revealed through Jesus

Heb 1:3 says, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His Powerful word.” Jesus Christ is described as being all man and all God. That is hard to conceive and fathom just like God is three-in-one for the trinity. But the bible says it is true and just because your mind can’t understand every part of something, it doesn’t mean it is not truth.

So ‘by the power of His word,” I like that phrase. Scriptures say that Jesus is The Word and all things were made through Him. If all things were made through Him too then there is power through Jesus Christ. You cannot create the world without power, right? Doesn’t that make sense? And think about when He was on the earth, He would talk to a storm, command it to be still, and it was immediately. Don’t you have to have power to do that? The disciples were amazed that He could do that.

Nothing was too difficult for Him. Jesus did His miracles without effort. He healed the blind man who had never seen and took what was in those eyes and fixed it so he could see again. And He created out of nothing fish and bread without any effort. His power was complete. When He said in John 18:15 that I Am He, the soldiers drew back and fell to the ground. Just speaking a word had so much power. Just being in His presence, they fell over just like Abram and Isaiah.

But at the same time, God is so tender. He said a bruised reed He will not break and a smoldering wick He won’t blow out. He is incredibly tender. He has this special soft gentle touch on your life. But He is also there with all the power you need to do anything that you need to do.

Jesus Christ has all the power to come in the future. I love the verse that says we will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. That will be awesome to see when He comes and returns. But the greatest power of all is seen in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The bible says that God raised Christ from the dead. Jesus did raise people from the dead but the power that when Christ was raised from the dead, was that He never died again. He was raised to life and because of His resurrection, we all live too.

IV.   How God is revealed through your Heart

If you believe in the power of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and His victory over sins, and you decide to put your trust in Jesus, you become a follower of Jesus, a believer of Jesus. You put your life into this powerful God, this powerful Jesus, this powerful Holy Spirit’s hands and surrender your life to them. This will give you a dramatic change in your life and a dramatic purpose for your life. Rom 8:11 says, “if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who lives in you.”
