God is uncreated. He was not created. He has no origin. If you think God comes from something else, then where does that entity come from and you find yourself going down a rabbit hole that never ends. But with God it ends with Him. There is nothing more than Him. He doesn’t rely and anyone else. No one created Him. He is self-existent.
We will bring God down to our level so we can manage our understanding of Him. God doesn’t account to us for who He is. He is responsible to no one. He is self-existent, self-dependent, and self-sufficient. He is not a part of creation, time or space. Her created them and is independent of them.
You were created in the image of God. You cannot know your purpose for being born apart from knowing the God who created you. If you want to know your purpose, know your creator.
Jer 32:17 – Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. Is 42:5 – This is what God the Lord says, the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it. Who gives breath to its people and life to those who walk on it.
God as Creator comes from Gen 1:1. God created the heavens and the earth. He created the world in six days. And He looked at all He created and it was good. God says to Job 41:11, “Who is it that has a claim against me?” “Everything under the heaven belongs to me.” If you create something it belongs to you, the universe belongs to God.
Jesus is a critical component of creation. John 1 – Jesus was the Word. All things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made. Paul says – For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven and in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, dominions, powers or principalities, all things were created by Him and for Him and He is before all things and by Him all things exist
Phil 2:6-8 – Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped but made himself nothing—taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness and being found in appearance as a man, he humbled Himself and became obedient to death on a cross. Jesus came as a human to save us from our sins.
There are spiritual truths built into creation. When God created lamb and sheep, it was intentional. One of Jesus’ names is He is the Lamb of God. He is the final sacrifice. Jesus came to do the Father’s will, to lay down His life, and then to take it up again. A speaker once said, “Did God pause when He created blood, knowing His Son would have to shed it in order to save the world?”
Science is created by God and shows the order of things. Science is good. When you want to understand the order of creation, you go to science. Science shows how consistent God is in His creation and scientists can measure it. But when you want to know right from wrong and what is good and what is evil, you don’t go to science. It gives no moral code. Science is science and it is not wise to base a religion on science because it is limited. Science is only a part of creation.
God created people with all kinds of personalities, passions, talents, and gifts to make things work in His created world. We were all created with a certain personality for a certain purpose. Nothing is created randomly. You will not be content until you are doing what you were created to do. God loves you and all His creation.
Episode 14 – God is Creator
A.W. Tozer quote: What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.
Studying the attributes of God can radically change your view of God. Take time to challenge yourself about what you believe about Him.
God is uncreated. He was not created. He has no origin. If a child says, where does God come from? If you think God comes from something else, then where does that entity come from and you find yourself going down a rabbit hole that never ends. But with God it ends with Him. There is nothing more than Him. He doesn’t rely and anyone else. No one created Him. He is self-existent. You can stop there. You don’t have to go down a rabbit hole and wonder any more. The buck stops with Him. It is hard because everything around us was created by something else but God is uncreated.
It makes us uneasy to think about someone who is outside of our frame of knowledge. That is why we will bring God down to our level so we can manage our understanding of Him. God doesn’t account to us for who He is. He is responsible to no one. He is self-existent, self-dependent, and self-sufficient. He is not a part of creation, time or space. Her created them and is independent of them.
Why is it important to know God this way? You were created in the image of God. You cannot know your purpose for being born apart from knowing the God who created you. If you want to know your purpose, know your creator.
We are born putting self on the throne of our hearts. We are born in sin and it is natural to us. But we are the created and He is the Creator. It is important to keep the right perspective. God asks us to put Him, the Creator on the throne of our hearts and humbly submit to Him.
It is good to believe in an uncreated, self-existent God who created it all and knows how it works.
God reveals Himself as Creator in His word. Do you believe that everything in the bible is true? The bible is God the Creator’s instruction manual to His creation. If you don’t believe that the word of God is infallible, without error, then you could be questioning His position in the world as Creator. The bible claims to be infallible, meaning everything in it is correct. You have to make a decision that when you read the word of God that you can fully put your trust in what you are reading. Billy Graham had to make this decision in his life very early in his ministry to believe with full confidence that the bible was completely true and contained the very words of God. And he said if he had not done this, he would not have been the evangelist we know today.
There are verse where other people are talking about God as Creator:
Jer 32:17 – Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.
Then there are verses where God is talking about Himself as Creator.
To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal? Says the Holy One. Lift your eyes and look to the Heavens. Who created all these? Who brings out the starry host one by one and calls them each by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
God challenges us today. Do you believe that I am the Creator of the whole wide universe and everything in it?
Is 42:5 – This is what God the Lord says, the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it. Who gives breath to its people and life to those who walk on it.
Breath in and out and know that every breath you take comes from God. He sustains the whole world and keeps it alive.
Of course, the biggest description of God as Creator comes from Gen 1:1. God created the heavens and the earth. He created the world in six days. And He looked at all He created and it was good.
Regarding the 7th day, because I believe God is Almighty, I don’t believe He had to rest because He had to regenerate His power. But God did create things in a particular order and in a particular way. There are hidden truths about Himself in creation. When he created man and woman, He told us to rest on the seventh day. He knows our bodies and He knows what is best for us. Then He told us to take that day of rest and set it aside and make it holy to the Lord. Everything flows for our benefit and everything flows to bring Him glory.
At the end of the book of Job, Job, is questioning God and asking about why everything is happening to him. Instead of answering Job’s questions, He lays out a series of questions of His own circled around His creation, starting with, “Where were you when I laid down the earth’s foundation?” God goes on to explain different parts of His creation like telling the seas they can only come so far onto the land, giving orders to the morning sun, bring rain to water the grass, giving wisdom to the heart and knowledge to the mind. He also talks about how he gave different characteristics to the ostrich, horse and hawk.
God is a creative creator. God enjoyed making such variety of plants and animals and they serve a purpose too like the vulture to clean up any decaying animal. Think about wildfires that the carbon from the ashes serves as good fertilization for the soil. God set up different environments and brings a good food supply to each one.
If you make something it belongs to you. God created the world so it belongs to Him. In the garden of Eden, He gave it to man to take care of. He uses it all for His glory and all for our good.
There are a 100 billion (10 11) stars in our galaxy and 2 trillion galaxies that we know of in the universe. God created a huge universe. A picture from the Hubble telescope showed beauty in the heavens we had never seen before. God created math and He knows it to the largest level and He doesn’t get confused. He calls each star by name and they are His private possessions.
God says to Job 41:11, “Who is it that has a claim against me?” “Everything under the heaven belongs to me.”
Job’s response is the response we need to have when we think of our Creator. Job 42:1 – “I know you can do all things and no plan of yours can be thwarted. Therefore I repent in ashes.” We should humbly bow before our Creator. Do not let any human words cause us to doubt that God is Creator.
How does God reveal Himself as Creator through Jesus? Jesus is a critical component of creation. John 1 – Jesus was the Word. All things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made. Jesus is a part of the Triune God. He is eternal and was a part of creating the heavens and the earth.
Paul says – For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven and in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, dominions, powers or principalities, all things were created by Him and for Him and He is before all things and by Him all things exist. Jesus has authority over the things that exist.
Phil 2:6-8 – Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped but made himself nothing—taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness and being found in appearance as a man, he humbled Himself and became obedient to death on a cross. Jesus came to be a human in order to save us from our sins.
There are spiritual truths built into creation. When God created lamb and sheep, it was intentional. They were to be one of the most common sacrifices for people’s sins under the old testament covenant. One of Jesus’ names is He is the Lamb of God. He is the final sacrifice. Jesus came to do the Father’s will, to lay down His life, and then to take it up again.
Jesus did many miracles and one of them was multiplying the bread and fish. Jesus took from nothing and made something which shows Him as creator and proving He was God too because that is what God did. He created the world from nothing. There was nothing and then by His word, there was something.
Jesus, God, came and died for those He created. Picture Jesus on the cross, dying for you and shedding His blood. I heard a speaker once who said, “Did God pause when He created blood, knowing His Son would have to shed it in order to save the world?”
There are 30 trillion red blood cells in a human body. There are a 100 trillion atoms in a cell. There are 1012 protons (neutrons, electrons) in an atom. And they found something even smaller call quarks and there are 1016 of those in a proton. Do you think that a quark has enough divine holiness to cover one person’s sin?
What we have in creation is no limit to what God can create. Consider manna created, heavenly bread.
Many people negate a belief in God as Creator and state that science is the answer and basically saying that science is there religion.
Science is created by God and shows the order of things. Science is good. But anything we put above God, and in this case you are putting something He created, that is called idolatry. It is believing in a lie that science is greater than God.
The bible is the book you should go to know right from wrong, to understand, love, kindness, peace and all of the intangible things of life. God didn’t just create the physical. God created systems, government, family, music and the arts, wisdom, understanding, and intellect.
Robin is fascinated with how God created people with all kinds of personalities, passions, talents, and gifts to make things work and enjoyable in His created world. We were all created with a certain personality for a certain purpose. Nothing is created randomly. There was a missionary in the movie Chariots of Fire who had a passion for running and before he went out into the mission field, he ran in the Olympics and gave God glory on a worldwide stage. He was created intentionally for that purpose and you were created with value and a purpose too. You will not be content until you are doing what you were created to do. Be sure you are using whatever talent you have for God’s glory. God loves you and all His creation.
